5 months old!

Happy birthday to our sweet boy Parker! He is SO wonderful . . . it is hard to describe how I feel. I LOVE spending every day with him . . . my special little friend -- he is so loving! Our favorite time of day is the morning. He is always so smiley and happy in the mornings and does most of his "talking/singing" then too. After I feed him in my bed, we just laugh and play in bed for as long as we want (unless I HAVE to go somewhere). I love my mornings with Parker!! :) Here are some recent pics of him:

(he is trying to roll into the table here)

( he likes to bury his head into his daddy when he is going down for the night)

(I tried to get a better angle and this is what he gave me)

I know, I know . . . I haven't blogged forever . . .

. . . but I do have a good excuse -- I just discovered FACEBOOK! I didn't even know what it was until July but since I've jumped on the bandwagon, I have gotten back in touch with so many old friends . . . especially ones from NH!! This last weekend I went to visit one of theose friends who now lives in Utah (see pic below):
This Sunday, I am having another friend from NH over for dinner who now lives in Boise, whom I also discovered on facebook! (We went to Matthew Thornton elementary school together!) This is really helping me connect with my past and I feel like so much more of a whole person, instead of like I had lived two different lives --first life in NH, second in Boise -- with the two completely unconnected. Anyway, it's hard to explain how it feels . . . but it is great!

And now the news you've all been waiting for . . . Parker!!! He has now learned to roll over -- first from tummy to back on Aug 24, then back to tummy on Aug 31 . . . now he just rolls over and over all the way down the floor! He is getting so strong but is still just as sweet as ever. Here are some recent pics:

SMILES

Parker is 3 months old today . . . I couldn't have imagined how incredibly wonderful and beautiful these three months would be. All the joy I had hoped for in having a child, I feel in my son. And the joy is so much greater now that he is real and not just in my imagination! I can't even express how much I love him. Here are some pics of his beautiful, engaging, handsome, warm, loving smile.

p.s. FYI: I haven't posted in a while because we've been busy with Parker's baby blessing (more on that later) and moving into a bigger apartment . . . 2 bed/2 bath . . . so much more space!

Cruz & Parker

You may recall an earlier post which contained the first pics of Parker with his cousin, Cruz . . .

Here are some more recent ones:

Cruz: "Who are you?"

Parker: "Hello, I'm your cousin!"

Cruz: "Oh . . . in that case I will give you a kiss!"

Kat: "Cruz, remember Gentle Ben."

Parker: "Don't hit me!"

Parker: "Well, I guess if you let me suck on your arm."

Kat: "Don't worry, Parker. Cruz isn't sad, he's just trying to crawl."

Cruz: "Just one more scootch and I'm there!"

best friends :)

Scotty's first Father's Day

Here are some pics from Scotty's first Father's Day -- June 15th!

Backyard dinner at my parent's house. After dinner, my niece Emily asked me why I still looked pregnant . . . I didn't realize how much I did till I saw this pic!

Eating with daddy . . .

Resting up after a big meal!

Just the three of us - so happy!!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY BABE!

5 years of bliss??

If you know us REALLY well, you know what those question marks mean. If not, just pretend they're not there . . . the past is past, but it will always be a part of who we are so I couldn't help but write it that way! Okay, enough of the philosophical . . . we celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary last Friday the 13th! Because of leap years in 2004 and 2008 (which also happen to be Olympic years - can't wait to watch that gymnastics!!), the days of the week lined up again this year (we were married on Friday the 13th in June 2003) which was kind of cool. (Now that I think about it, maybe those question marks stem from the fact that we cursed ourselves by choosing that day . . . hmmm . . . eeeerie.) So anyway . . .

We started the day off right with a delicious breakfast from my chef husband . . . Waffle House waffles with PB and homemade maple-almond syrup and hashbrowns. Then Scotty was off to work ALL DAY (9am-7pm) . . . I know, not exactly romantic but he works so hard to support us and I love that about him!

After work we went to our favorite Mexican restaraunt - La Tapatia. You see that we have our pride and joy with us - sweet baby Parker - which is why we are not holding hands across the table like our typical anniversary pics (although I couldn't help but pretend). Our Mexican waiter took this pic for us. If you're not familiar with Mexican culture, they are extremely open about things that Americans might consider private . . . when I asked for a to-go box, he said (in Spanish), "But aren't you breastfeeding?" (in Spanish, the word breastfeeding literally translates as "to give the breast" - I know - awkward!). I said that I was so he told me I should eat more so I could make more milk for my baby - ha! I love these people!!

Parker almost never cries like this, but when he does . . .

. . . it never lasts long. He loves his daddy!

. . . and kisses from his mommy!

I love this pic so much. I sometimes tell Parker that he is my special friend and that sometimes I forget that he's just a little baby. I love to talk to him and and he talks (okay, communicates) back to me with his various facial expressions, gestures, and cries (more like whimpers) and then smiles or kicks his legs in excitement when I give him what he is asking for. I feel totally connected to him and love it when he just stares me in the eye for minutes on end and smiles at me those big beautiful smiles (I've still not been able to get a good pic of this since he only smiles to my face and not to the big black camera).

1-866-IDOLS-05 . . . vote for me! j/k . . . We saw our friends the Juza's at the restauraunt and they took this pic for us.

Since Scotty was working ALL DAY, we finished celebrating our anniversary on Saturday (even though he worked ALL DAY again 9am-7pm) with a movie, homemade lasagna (don't ask how I made it since I just threw it together without a recipe but it turned out to be absolutely the BEST lasagna I have ever eaten), and Marie Calander pie. This setup was a result of my lack of planning the details when I try to do a surprise for Scotty. At first I thought I would borrow my neighbor's loveseat (since ours is so hard and uncomfortable so we can never cuddle while watching a movie) but when that didn't work out, my brother, Matt (who was over at our apt), suggested turning our loveseat upside down and using the back to lean on - since the back is softer than the seat! I then got the pillow top off our bed and draped some very soft sheets over everything to make it match (what's the point I know!)

Then we had a great night watching "Miracle" about the 1980 Olympic hockey team (I can't wait for the Olympics!!). At first we cuddled with Parker as you can see. Then when he went to sleep we cuddled with each other. Happy Anniversary to my one and only!!!
